Tuesday, September 25, 2012
2012 Victory Vegas
2012 Victory High Ball
The 2012 Victory Vegas (above) and 2012 Victory High-Ball (below) are two models potentially affected by the recall.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice on behalf of Polaris regarding a number of Victory Motorcycles produced from January 3, 2012 through August 15, 2012. The recall notice states a “torqueing procedure may have been missed on some throttle cable retention nuts. On certain motorcycles, the throttle cable retention nuts for either the pull or push throttle cable may have not been torqued correctly,” and may increase the risk of a crash. The number of units affected is estimated at 6,618.

Listed below are all years and models of Victory Motorcycles affected by the recall:

2013 Boardwalk
2012-2013 Cross Country
2012-2013 Cross Roads
2012-2013 Hammer
2012-2013 Hard-Ball
2012-2013 High-Ball
2012-2013 Jackpot
2012-2013 Judge
2012 Kingpin
2012-2013 Vegas
2012-2013 Vision

If torqueing has been missed and the retention nuts are loose, the retention nuts closest to the throttle body can become dislodged and interfere with throttle function. Victory will notify owners and dealers will properly torque the fasteners free of charge. Owners can contact the Victory customer service department at 1-888-704-5290 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236. More information can be found at www.safercar.gov. Polaris’ recall number is V-12-01 and the NHTSA campaign ID number is 12V457000.
