first revealed its 1190SX streetfighter on June 11. Now the East Troy, Wisconsin-based manufacturer has announced official specs for the new model, including its $16,995 MSRP.
The latest revelations about the 1190SX confirm usage of the 72-degree V-Twin sourced by its Superbike kin, the 1190RX (read more on the 1190RX in MotoUSA’s EBR 1190RX First Ride review
). EBR press materials tout the Twin’s use of the firm’s proprietary Controlled Swirl Induction (CSI) technology. The 1190SX also claims identical power numbers of 185 horsepower (10,600 rpm) and 101.6 lb-ft torque (8200 rpm). No mention is made of whether the 21-level traction control system employed by the RX is utilized by the SX.
The 1190SX specs show identical drivetrain stats with the RX, including hydraulically-actuated clutch with slipper functionality. The gear drive, final chain drive and all six transmission ratios are also identical to the Superbike.
EBR founder and company namesake, Erik Buell, confirms the SX’s Twin is unbridled, stating in a company press release: “The streetfighter classification, which was so revolutionary when we first came to market, is now being used by marketing people for all sorts of motorcycles, including some thinly-disguised standard bikes that have de-tuned or obsolete powertrains. So, perhaps the appropriate new name for a bike like the 1190SX is, ‘Superfighter.’“
Expected Buell design staples, like fuel incorporated into the aluminum frame and single perimeter front braking rotor, are confirmed for his ‘Superfighter’. The SX also sources similar suspension components, with a Showa big piston fork and Showa shock.
Listed steering geometry for the SX is unchanged from the Superbike, with 22.4-degree rake and 3.8 inch trail. The 32.5 inch seat height is also the same. The most obvious ergonomic change when the single photo of the SX was released in June was the handlebars, which appeared taller than the RX’s clip-ons. EBR confirms SX handlebars are wider, and states the streetfigher design sports an “athletic upright riding position.”
EBR states delivery of the SX are scheduled for early July. It will be available in three colorways: Frost Bite White, Galactic Black and Racing Red. MSRP is $16,995, which is $2000 less than the 1190RX Superbike.
