Hopefully David Vuillemin can stay healthy and find another ounce or two of speed. If so he could deliver a major, major surprise in 2007.

David Vuillemin must have done something different in his daily routine on Saturday. The friendly Frenchman looked like his old self with tremendous speed. Maybe his goon-riding session during the Superpole was enough to make him relax and enjoy the race. He certainly had to be happy with the result

It wouldn't be Vegas without a laser show.

The Rockstar chicks were so hot that even other chicks were scouting them. You’re busted, lady.

Ricky had to check the traffic behind him after falling in Friday’s main event. Luckily he managed to avoid getting hit and charged all the way back to second.

Josh Grant made it all look so easy as he checked out and left the rest of the Lites class in his wake.

Opening ceremonies are always a bit extravagant, but we’re talking about Vegas here, right?

With $100,000 hanging in the balance, Ricky was trying hard to get by Stewart as they clicked off lap after lap. This bobble through the first rhythm section allowed JS to pull out a little gap but RC closed it up again in short order. Unfortunately, Carmichael found himself in pinch later in the ra

Vuillemin held off Carmichael for almost seven laps. Oh yeah, and Stewart was behind them. Not bad, Cobra.

This pass was worth $100,000.

Carmichael was gracious in his defeat and the fans think nothing less of him after the war he waged with Stewart.

These guys respect one another, no matter what happens.

Tedesco scored the holeshot in the main event which could have been a big help to Carmichael but No. 9 threw it away on the second lap.

'Hey, Dad, mind holding my check for me?'

This was the second championship that Stewart has won in Vegas, but his first US Open title.

RC was running the number 1 as the reigning US Open champ.

This is how the podium looked once the overall scores were added up. Stewart, Carmichael and Windham were the top finishers in what turned out to be a pretty damn good show.

Kawasaki’s Tim Ferry went 5-6 for fifth overall in his racing debut aboard the KX450F.

Motoworld/PPG/Yamaha’s Justin Brayton did a great job getting third on Friday night and an equally impressive job at the press conference.

Cole Sieber (171) did the nice thing and slammed on his binders to avoid the downed Ricky Carmichael. Carmichael later acknowledged the kind gesture and thanked him in the press conference for not wheelying over him which would have been completely acceptable given the circumstances.

Stewart came into Saturday night with a chance to double down on his Toyota Trifecta winnings. Kevin Windham put a stop to that right away with a $10K victory in the Superpole.

Tommy Hahn finally rode his own race on Saturday and the result was much improved over the first night of racing. Hahn overcame some bad luck, won the LCQ and finished third in the main.

Josh Grant accepted two of these Progressive Holeshot awards. Consequently, he also picked up two race wins. Hmmm, maybe those guys weren’t kidding when they said the start inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena was more important that usual?

Chris Gosselaar finished third overall on the same bike he used to finish second in the 2006 Eastern Region SX series.
