US riders will have the opportunity to pick-up a Montesa Honda Cota 4RT Repsol Edition trials bike in 2014. Montesa Honda Trials bikes have been the weapon of choice for top trials riders in recent years, including the highly decorated champion Toni Bou of Repsol Honda.
The 2014 Cota 4RT is powered by a 259cc liquid-cooled Single. A specially designed crankcase decompression system reduces engine braking allowing for smoother control when tackling the course and was built to mimic the characteristics of a 2-stroke engine. The powerplant is fed from the half-gallon fuel tank via Programmed Fuel Injection and there’s an optional HRC FI tuning kit available which allows riders to dial-in the PGM-FI system to suit various conditions.
The close-ratio five-speed transmission affords precise power delivery to the rear wheel, while a plush 39mm Showa fork soaks up bumps out front. The cartridge-type telescopic unit travels 6.9 inches and features preload, compression and rebound adjustment capability. Out back a Pro-Link Showa shock with preload and rebound adjustments travels over 6.7 inches. Braking is handled by a single 185mm disc gripped by a four-piston Braktec caliper in the front and a 150mm disc and two-piston caliper at the rear. A 21-inch Michelin front and 18-inch Michelin rear tire grip whatever terrain happens to be underfoot.
The refined aluminum frame and swingarm, along with carbon-fiber elements in the bodywork, help to make the Montesa Honda Cota 4RT a slim 165.1 pounds (claimed with fuel). Wide, adjustable footpegs enhance rider control as well.
The Montesa Honda Cota 4RT Repsol Edition will have a limited run in the states and is only available in the Repsol Race Replica livery. MSRP is listed at $8999 and the bike is set to arrive in dealerships in April 2014.
