has released the first tidbits of information on the 2011 Honda CRF450R and 2011 Honda CRF250R motocross bikes. There isn’t much to go on from this point, but the major motocross models are slightly revised and essentially all of the remaining lineup looks to be carryover with the exception of a few machines.
2011 Honda CRF450R – MSRP $8199
The 2011 Honda CRF450R gets some minor
updates to aid sound and power output.
Honda claims better low and midrange power from its Unicam, four-valve motor by using “various tweaks to the engine tuning.” A new 46mm throttle body is incorporated for better throttle response. The linkage is revised along with new suspension settings. Inside the fork is a lighter cartridge cylinder and the front and rear suspension both get updated valving. Honda says the result is improved rear-wheel traction and a plusher ride. Big Red still makes use of its proprietary Honda Progressive Steering Damper (HPSD) which gets a swollen piston for ’11 jumping from 20mm to 24mm. Expect to see the new 2011 Honda CRF450R in dealerships this October.
2011 Honda CRF250R – MSRP $7199
Honda updated last year’s CRF250R in a big way with an all-new fuel-injected engine. Without any specifics available yet, the 250R gets a similar treatment to the big bike – better bottom and midrange power, larger HPSD piston and new suspension valving. Both the 450 and 250 are supposed to meet a 94 decibel limit with new exhaust mufflers.
2011 Honda CRF70F and CRF50F – MSRP $1899 (70F) and $1499 (50F)
Honda is also updating its smallest dirt bikes, the CRF70F and CRF50F. The only differences are new graphics (bold, of course) and a new color on upper fork tubes.
Other entry bikes are available. The Honda CRF230F, CRF150F, CRF100F and CRF80F are still in dealerships, but the most recent model year for these machines is 2009. The same goes for the larger enduros, the CRF450X and CRF250X, and the dual sport line of XR650L and CRF230L.
