Honda is looking to grab a piece of the mid-sized naked bike market and bring new riders into the industry with the newly announced CB500F. As one of three new motorcycles powered by a shared 500cc powerplant, the 2013 Honda CB500F is the lowest priced of the group at $5499 for the standard model and $5999 for the ABS-equipped version. With minimal bodywork and sharp lines the CB500F should be of interest to riders looking for an efficient, fun, yet affordable ride.
Tipping the scales at 420 pounds the 2013 CB500F features a diamond-shaped 35mm steel tube frame for sporty and responsive handling. Cast 17” aluminum wheels bolster the nimble handling, while a 320mm front wave-style disc brake and 240mm rear haul the CB down from speed. A 41mm
front fork delivers 4.3 inches of travel, and at the rear a Pro-link linkage moves through 4.7 inches.
The powerplant propelling the CB500F is a 500cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin that is shared with the
2013 Honda CBR500R and CB500X. The DOHC, four-valve motor is claimed to produce a broad power spread for sporty yet economical performance. Fuel economy numbers are still to be announced.
The 2013 Honda CB500F is available in Black and Pearl White and will be in dealer’s showrooms in April of 2013.
