Josh Hayes - Team Graves Yamaha
Rider: Josh Hayes
Nationality: American
Team: Graves Yamaha
Machine: Yamaha YZF-R1 (#1)
Born: April 4, 1975 in Gulfport, Mississippi, USA
Josh Hayes is a dedicated road racer who started in 1994 on a F2 that he tuned himself while driving from race to race. After winning three novice championships, Hayes turned pro in 1996 and two years later the 23-year-old from Gulfport, Mississippi entered the AMA ranks. Despite a rocky start Hayes found his groove after competing in a variety of divisions including Formula Xtreme, 750 Supersport and AMA Superstock. After claiming third overall in the Formula Xtreme series Hayes progressed dramatically and in 2003 he clenched his first AMA title in Superstock.

The year after Hayes tried his hand in AMA Superbike and finished eighth overall. Following a mediocre 2005 season aboard Kawasaki, Hayes moved back to the Xtreme series where he experienced consistency during '06. He eventually

secured the title when he took the checkers at the season finale, besting the winningest FX rider ever, Eric Bostrom. He went on to defend the title the following year aboard a CBR600RR. However, in 2008 Hayes was unable to defend his second title from Jake Zemke, and instead had to settle for second.

At the end of 2008 he made the jump to the Graves Yamaha Superbike team and proved his mettle when he piloted the YZF-R1 to second-overall behind legendary Mat Mladin during the 2009 season. Nothing could compare to his most recent 2010 season in Superbike, however. Hayes put in a total of seven wins throughout 2010 and etched another seven podium finishes on the scoreboard, narrowly earning the championship victory ahead of Tommy Hayden.

In 2011 Hayes will attempt to defend the Superbike crown aboard Team Graves Yamaha.
