Steve Rapp at Miller.
Rider: Steve Rapp
Nationality: American
Team: Drag Specialties/Parts Unlimited
Machine: Harley-Davidson XR1200 (#5)
Born: November 18, 1971 in Oakland, California
Steve Rapp started riding when he was 18 years old after watching a buddy race in California. Before long he was a legend at Willow Springs Raceway and in 1997 he moved into a full-time job racing in the AMA Pro Road Racing series.

With an aggressive riding style Rapp claimed second overall in the 1998 750 Superstock Championship. Rapp followed this strong performance with mediocre results in a variety of other classes including AMA Superbike, Formula Xtreme, 1000 Superstock and 600 Supersport.

During the 2007 Formula Xtreme series Rapp had one of the biggest moments of his career when he won the Daytona 200. Armed with a Kawasaki, Rapp also took part in the AMA Supersport Championship where he snagged fourth overall after posting podiums at Barber and Laguna Seca. Another strong season followed for Rapp in 2008, and in 2009 he made his first appearance in the Daytona SportBike series aboard a Yamaha. The 37-year-old had a rocky start in the class, but proved he had more left in the tank by claiming third place on two separate occasions at Infineon and Barber.

In 2010 Rapp returned to Daytona SportBike with the Latus Ducati team. In one of his best seasons to date Rapp finished fourth in the championship after earning a total of seven podiums throughout the season. Despite his strong results, however, the title has eluded Rapp so far in his 13 years of AMA racing.

For 2011 Rapp will transfer to the XR1200 series with a Drag Racing Specialties/Parts Unlimited-backed team.
