Ohlins suspension graces the 2012 Triumph Speed Triple R. It also gets carbon fiber components on the bodywork.
Triumph is releasing an up-spec R model of the Speed Triple after seeing the success of similarly upgraded Street Triple and Daytona 675 models. Ohlins suspension is the headlining feature with a gold NIX30 43mm fork and TTX36 shock offering increased absorption capabilities and better looks. The Speed Triple R also shaves 3.7 pounds with the addition of PVM five-spoke forged aluminum wheels. Four-piston monobloc Brembo brake calipers slow down the iconic street fighter with switchable ABS available as an additional option. Triumph says the R has a 5% increase in braking performance as a result of the high-end components.

Available in Phantom Black or Crystal White, the 2012 Speed Triple R is identifiable by a red subframe and stripes around the wheels. It also has carbon fiber tidbits at the front wheel fender, radiator shrouds and fuel tank bra. Triumph hasn’t said anything about improvements to the Inline-Triple engine and the exhaust system looks to be stock judging from photos.

Watch for the 2012 Triumph Speed Triple R to be officially revealed with more details on November 8 at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy.
