Exclusivity is the name of the game for the 2014 Star Raider SCL (Star Custom Line). Maintaining a tradition which started with the 2012 model year when the first Raider SCL was introduced, the cruiser marque plans to make only 500 of these customized machines for 2014.
Since the 2012 SCL
, which came in a two-tone orange/black colorway, aesthetic upgrades have been the primary difference between an SCL and standard Raider. In 2013 Star kept with the two-toned theme, offering a hand-painted Crimson Red and Intense Black design. For 2014, Star is using a Matte Iron paint accented with a Matte Raven color to highlight its new blacked-out, retro hot-rod theme. The titanium-coated fork tubes, push-rod tubes, forks, exhaust, airbox, wheels, switch gear and master cylinders have all been blacked-out as well, making this year’s SCL visually quite different from its predecessors, which all sported traditional chrome accents.
The 2014 Raider SCL also gets new LED turn signals, a two-tone genuine leather seat marked by subtle beige/red stitching. Each SCL also comes with a limited edition hologram badge on the top of the fuel tank that displays the individual number of the machine amongst the run of 500.
The 2014 SCL’s specs match those of the standard Raider, though due to the limited run and premium finish, the 2014 Star Raider SCL is priced $2000 higher than the $14,990 standard edition.
