The three-tier Development and Operations Center offers 470,000 square feet.
Husqvarna has relocated its headquarters to a brand new 470,000 square-foot facility in Varese, Italy. The three-story building was specifically built to meet Husky’s corporate needs after BMW Group purchased the company in 2007.
As you’d expect from a company that prides itself on technical innovation, the building meets EU energy saving regulations with features like solar-powered hot water and new thermal and acoustic insulation. It’s more than just a fancy new office, however, the Development and Operations Center is intended to push Husky forward on multiple levels.
"Our new headquarters and its organization optimizes product development by integrating all production units across the entire Husqvarna motorcycle range," explains Rainer Thoma, President and Managing Director of Husqvarna Motorcycles. "The structure has been designed to enhance projected growth both in the short term and in the long term. For example, with only minor further changes production capacity can reach 40,000 motorcycles a year."
A lot of thought went into designing the layout to allow interdepartmental work flow. The lower floor houses the good stuff for gearheads. It’s dominated by the Engine Division with workshops for prototype and race-bike production nearby. Climbing higher will reveal the suit-and-tie atmosphere of management, design and administrative offices. Thoma sums up the new facility as more than just walls and a roof.
"It's destined to become the heart of the company and a Mecca for all Husqvarna fans," he said.
