As the 2011 Monster Energy Grand Prix of the United States draws nearer, Glen Helen Raceway begins its final preparations for the gathering of worldwide talent and media that will soon descend on America's Playground in Southern California.

Thursday, May 5th will be the last open practice at Glen Helen Raceway until after the Grand Prix. The track will be open from 8:00am until dusk, so be sure to take this last opportunity to practice on the USGP course before the track is transformed. Normal gate fees apply.

For the past several weeks the grounds crew at Glen Helen have been working on the USGP Track, altering it piece by piece. As there are many races and practices at Glen Helen each weekend, the track is not yet in its full Grand Prix configuration. Finalizing the course as well as marking and fencing will begin this weekend as the track prepares to welcome riders from around the world.

In addition to converting the USGP Track to its final Grand Prix configuration, the crew at Glen Helen will be making over the entire facility to accommodate the large number of fans and attractions that will take over during Grand Prix weekend. Workers will begin setting up the paddock area, mechanic's area, media tent, and other structures and designated areas.

Glen Helen Raceway will be completely transformed for the Grand Prix of the United States. Glen Helen is working with Youthstream to prepare the 256-acre facility for its largest event of the year. Be sure to come out to the track on Thursday for a last chance to practice, and join in the fun next weekend as the World Motocross Championship returns to the United States.
