Continental Tire and Wunderlich have combined forces on this industrial-strength 'Mad Max'-inspired BMW S1000RR. We're diggin' the TKC 80 studded tires!
When two companies work on the same idea, something fascinating can emerge. In close collaboration with tire manufacturer Continental, Wunderlich – the Sinzig-based specialist in BMW motorcycle accessories – is getting a unique bike ready for action: a BMW S1000RR
inspired by the MAD MAX film series. This “Mad Max” S1000RR offers a whole lot of technical finesse from the Sinzig-based company’s extensive product portfolio – the special finish alone, in various matt colors, should draw a few admiring glances. But the absolute highlight of this off-road superbike has to be its unusual tires. This brute of a bike sits on TKC 80 studded tires with the new dimensions 120/70 B17 M/C 58Q and 180/55 B17 M/C 73Q.
The initial concept for this macho bike was developed last October. The tire professionals in Hanover wanted something special, something out of the ordinary to emerge from the developers’ drawing boards. By setting this challenge, they aimed to find a stylish way of presenting the striking studded tires in the new size unusual to enduro tires. And it’s fair to say that the challenge has been met.
From the drawing board of French designer Nicolas Petit came a radical modification based on the BMW S 1000 RR that incorporated a diverse range of high-quality components from various Wunderlich partners. The bike features not only Öhlins suspension, but also exquisite Moto-Master discs, drive technology from Wieres, Magura handlebars and a stainless steel IDM superbike exhaust system specially developed for this project by Remus.
Drawing on its huge repertoire for the 1000 series, Wunderlich contributed a completely reworked superbike, a modified footrest system, a newly developed bench seat as well as various other elements such as crash pads, the oil radiator grill and adjustable VarioLever clutch and brake levers.
