Keanu Reeves and Gard Form Arch Motorcycles

Thursday, October 4, 2012
Arch Motorcycle Company is built from a shared passion for and fundamental belief in performance and design. The introductory line of production motorcycles are in the prototype and industrial design phase currently, with production expected in 2013. Collaborators Gard Hollinger of L.A. County Choprods and renowned actor Keanu Reeves met in 2007 to tackle a customization project. What began as a simple undertaking more than five years ago quickly evolved into an ongoing dialogue and shared vision for the elusive ultimate riding experience.

On the lookout for a unique and beautiful machine with real world ride-ability, Reeves was initially drawn to Gard’s uniquely styled custom builds and the functional and purpose-driven flair for which he is known. The partnership

between veteran builder and avid enthusiast began with discussions about riding and style, and has culminated five years later with the creation of Arch Motorcycle Company and their first prototype, the KR GT-1.

The Arch KR GT-1 was completed in the fall of 2011. This groundbreaking bike is characterized by its power, stability, agility, and aesthetic beauty. It offers smooth and impressive power in addition to a comfortable ride. Built without compromise, the KR GT-1 begs to be ridden.

“We have a common vision,” says Gard of his partnership with Reeves. “We started with the idea of a performance-based modern machine. Once the bike was complete, it looked like a production motorcycle but unlike anything we had ever seen. It’s unique and we can’t wait to introduce it to the world.”

Gard is a self-taught designer, engineer and fabricator. Having formerly owned a name-brand dealership, he also had a custom shop and parts business where he had the freedom to blend his artistic vision with his passion for functional and purposeful engineering. He and many of his works have been featured in magazines and television programs around the world. With a passion for riding that started as a child, he is looking forward to putting his lifetime of experience to work creating performance-focused machines at Arch Motorcycle Company.

Reeves, an avid motorcycle enthusiast has been quietly enjoying motorcycles for more than 25 years. Whether rain or shine, he rides daily and has even had long stints where he didn’t own a car and relied solely on two-wheeled forms of transportation. His passion for motorcycles dates back to his youth. His first ride was a Kawasaki 600 Enduro and he currently owns a variety of Norton Commandos as well as the first Arch Motorcycle.

“I’m a guy that loves everything about motorcycles – the sounds, the style and the aesthetic combined with the function, but most of all the riding experience. I’ve enjoyed motorcycles for as long as I can remember and I’m ready to share my passion with the world,” explains Reeves.

What began as a custom bike for Keanu Reeves has resulted in the creation of a revolutionary vehicle destined for production and the advent of the newest American motorcycle manufacturer. Arch Motorcycles is currently in the industrial design process and plan to have production models for sale in 2013. Check them out online at http://www.archmotorcycle.com.

1) Turns on fuel, 2) decompression for easier starting (?), 3) ingnition/starter, 4) Rides through a suburban 'hood on an overpriced, overdesigned bike no one will want.

I've ridden and owned lots of bike in my day. But I have to ask. Does anybody know what he is pushing, around :15 in to the video, on the right next to the engine heads? And what does he twist with both hands, just before that? Your help is appreciated.
