Hoobastank Talks Racing with Jay Leno

Tuesday, January 27, 2009
Racer and rocker Chris Hesse, the drummer of the Platinum-selling band Hoobastank, will be playing with his band mates on Jay Leno’s show tonight, Tuesday, January 27, 2009, the same day that the band’s new CD, For(n)ever, is first available in record stores and the internet.

Hesse had to take time off from his racing adventures on his Pirelli shod Yamaha YZF-R6 to work with his band in the writing and recording of Hoobastank’s latest CD. Hesse said, “The last time I raced I broke my foot when I fell in turn two at Willow Springs. We had already started working on the new CD so the band had to wait for me to get back to playing form. My compromise was to tone it down a tad and do track days instead for the past year.”

After Hoobastank’s appearance tonight on The Tonight Show, the band goes directly to the airport to begin the first six-week stint of its tour to promote For(n)ever, playing most dates with the bands 3 Doors Down and Hinder, with a few of their own headlining dates in the mix.

Not just a racer and track-day rider, Hesse sports around the streets of Southern California on his Suzuki SV650. Hesse said, “I’m just a regular enthusiast. I love bikes, what can I say. And when I’m on track it’s a bit like being on stage. What I mean is, the concentration of drumming on stage and riding on the edge are closely related. Doing either takes me to a great place.” Hesse also added, “Did I mention that our new CD rules?”
