2015 Can-Am Spyder F3 Confirmed

Wednesday, September 3, 2014
Can-Am confirmed yesterday what we already expected after securing spy shots last month – there’s a new Spyder in the works, set to debut September 23. The 2015 Can-Am Spyder F3 sports bold new bodywork, the front end bearing the flair of a muscle car. It runs larger diameter wheels up front and a new trellis swingarm on the rear, leading us to believe the chassis has been revamped as well. While the seating position is comfortably upright, the foot controls are much more forward than before.

While an official spec sheet has yet to be released, we believe the F3 signifies it will be powered by the Inline Triple Can-Am debuted last year in its Spyder RT. The liquid-cooled 1330cc Inline Triple is claimed to put out 115 hp at 7250 rpm and 96 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm. We’re wagering it will get the six-speed gearbox with electronic clutch control from the 2014 RT as well. In the past, Spyders have been offered in both manual and semi-automatic forms, a trend we anticipate will extend to the 2015 F3.

Features the 2015 Can-Am Spyder F3 will carryover include the three-wheeler’s proprietary Y-architecture, two wheels up front with a double-A arm design and a swingarm teamed to a single rear wheel. Most likely it also features Can-Am’s Vehicle Stability System, a combination of traction and stability control combined with anti-lock brakes.

We’ll follow up with a complete first look once Can-Am releases more details, but in the meantime we can tell you that the company is holding a contest on its Facebook page where two lucky winners will be among the first to ride the new Spyder in Daytona Beach during Biketoberfest. Here’s the details, courtesy of Can-Am.

The last model was gutless. I wonder how this one will do?

What about mileage. With the last one you hoped to get 30 mpg.

Looks really great to me and with the "souped up" drive train this will be one great addition to the outdoor traveling world.
