why should the OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLE fund pay for the ROADS??? If the government wants to raise taxes to fix the roads, but the constituents say no, then don't fix the roads. that's the constituents fault, they get what they asked for. and hopefully they'll realize it when the roads fall apart. in the meantime don't take it from another, completely unrelated area.
basco -Idaho OHV gas tax funds taken away  May 10, 2009 05:45 AM
Unfortunately, Mr.Foster doesn't tell the whole story. The Idaho legislature has been in session for an extended period because they couldn't decide on funding for roads. The governor wanted a gas tax increase but the legislature said their constituents said no. They wrangled back and forth for weeks until they came up with a compromise. Taking away OHV funds is part of the compromise. There are many other programs that got cut. Considering 2/3 of the population of the Boise vallley own some form of OHV or street motorcycle, I find it ironic the off road community would complain about losing funding when they wouldn't support a gas tax hike that everyone, motorcycle or cager, would have to pay. Be careful what you ask for. Now part of the burden of fixing Idaho's roads will fall on the OHV's instead of everyone paying their fair share with a gas tax.
