There was a time when the whole "I'll take a GSX-R1000 and a DR-Z" argument was sort of relevant. But have you noticed that the MSRP for the 2009 GSX-R600 is over $10,000 now? Sure, the 1000 is "only" 13 grand, but seriously... Just a couple grand extra and you get something that you won't see everywhere else, with some nifty features not found on any GSX-R, and a bike that pretty handily whooped the GSXR's booty all year long in WSBK. I like GSXRs. I have owned 2 of them and I will own another some day. But they are not really any better value these days.

Price is always going to be a cheap/easy argument against anything other than the cheapest bike on the market. Price is A factor, but not the Only factor, in deciding what to buy. It must be too deliciously tempting to make that comment, because on every bike review article featuring anything but a Suzuki, somebody makes it. Zzzzzz...
