2009 Vectrix Vx-1
The 2009 Vx-1 electric scooter from Vectrix, just one of many upcomming electric vehicles in the growing two wheeled market.
Last fall Congress approved consumer tax credits of up to $7500 for plug-in cars. Unfortunately the lawmakers left out the most affordable and available solution: 2 and 3 wheeled plug-in vehicles.

This year Vectrix, along with Plug In America and has worked with Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Orrin Hatch (R-UT), John Kerry (D-MA), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), and Bill Nelson (D-FL) to get critical plug-in vehicle tax credit language into the upcoming stimulus bill. We are very close to success.

But now our efforts are threatened - we hear that the consumer tax credits for 2 and 3 wheeled plug-ins may get removed from the stimulus bill.

We need your help - we will do most of the work. Please take just a moment to click through the link below and send a strong message to your representatives in Congress and the President telling them that you want plug-in electric vehicles to be successful along with the truly green jobs they can create. Show Washington just how serious you are about wanting affordable plug-in vehicles on the road now:

It is time to ask Congress to advance the next generation of transportation options. Each and every voice they hear will make a difference.

Let us do the work for you - Just click the link below and in less than a minute you can get your message to Congress about this key issue:

I hope the tax-credit doesn't get removed. Electric motorcycles are so cool! furthermore, automakers aren't doing much to help electric cars catch on, so I'm glad the government is. I didn't know anything about electric cars until I read "Two Cents Per Mile" by Nevres Cefo, and it totally sold me on Electric Vehicles, and NiMH batteries ( check it out at http://www.twocentspermile.com or on amazon at http://bit.ly/2centspermile )

I would rather not use money my child will have to pay back someday, so some geek can ride an electric scooter to his work. These people don't realize that most of the electricity to charge these vehicles comes from coal. Not to mention that potential tax credit will just go towards higher energy bills!

Why in any sane world would there not be favorable status for 2 and 3 wheel electric vehicles. It is a fact that most commutes are with a single passenger. It is a fact that the lighter the vehicle the more power efficient it is likely to be. It is a fact that the lighter the vehicle the longer stored energy is likely to last. Because 2 and 3 wheel vehicles are among the lighest they are therefore most likely to be the most effective in a rapidly changing technology. Any sane legislator wishing to be reelected would therefore of necessity include the most effective technolgy in tax credits. I would be extremely annoyed at any other course of action.
Steven D Leighty - Plug in Electric 2 and 3 wheel vehicles  February 7, 2009 01:31 AM
Dear Sir There should be the same consideration for 2, 3 and 4 wheel plug in vehicles. The 2 and 3 wheel vehicles are the same pollutant free vehicles as 4 wheel ones. I and many of my friends can not afford a 4 wheel plug in; but, we will be buying a 2 or 3 wheel plug in. The tax credits should be for everyone that is thinking "Green". Steve
