Hays Machine Works, maker of the Hays convertible clutch, is raising its purse for the first 6 second Pro Street pass to $10,000! “Hays Machine Works is determined to work with Pro Street racers to give them whatever they need to make this a reality,” said Tim Hays. “We’re committed to enabling the Pro Street racers to speed past the last major milestone in the no-bar, street tire record book, and we will assist any racers in obtaining this goal no matter what it takes.”

Urgency for a 6 Second Club suddenly formed when Bud Yoder ran 7.11 on Ronnie Mitchell’s Suzuki Hayabusa in a MiRock Superbike Series race at Maryland International Raceway last October. Then Rob Budgell ran 7.12 to open the 2010 AMA Dragbike season at Valdosta. “The 6 second zone is closer than ever, and our products will play a role in reaching it,” said Hays.

The conditions to qualify for the Hays Machine Works $10,000 6 second Pro Street purse are: The bike must be running the Hays convertible clutch system and display Hays Machine Works stickers on both sides of the race vehicle; The 6 second pass must be the first ever in qualifying or eliminations at a MiRock or AMA Dragbike event. There is no need to back up the time to qualify for the purse.

Pro Street bikes are 68 inch wheelbase, street tire, production based motorcycles with few limitations on performance. Making around 550 horsepower with the help of either a turbocharger or nitrous, these bikes currently run 7.10 quarter miles at over 205 MPH. Flexing the chassis and powering the street tire to the thin edge of adhesion, Pro Street bikes are the most competitive and exciting class in all of drag racing. This will never happen. This company does not know what they are doing and they make lousy products with even worse customer service.
