Chad Reed Signs with Monster Energy Kawasaki

Friday, October 30, 2009

We already spotted Reed in Australia on his Kawasaki KX450F, but now it's official that he's racing Supercross and Motocross in America for the Monster Energy Kawasaki program.
It’s official, Chad Reed has signed on the dotted line with Monster Energy Kawasaki to race in America for 2010. We’ve already seen him racing in the Australasian Super X series (read the blog), but he is confirmed as a teammate for Ryan Villopoto to ride in the States. The cool thing is that Reedy has agreed to do AMA Supercross and the outdoor AMA Motocross series, which we applaud him for. It’s only right for the champion to defend his title.

"The Kawasaki KX450F is a great bike,” he said “I have already had a chance to ride and race it. I'm really impressed.”

Reed is no stranger to having a green fender lead him around the track, and no, we don’t mean James Stewart’s rear fender of years past. The four-time AMA champion competed in the World Motocross GP series aboard a factory Kawasaki in 2001. From there he jumped to America and it’s been blue, yellow and a very successful career ever since.

"Chad is going to bring a lot to our team," said Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Manager Mike Fisher. "He has proven to be the most consistent rider this decade and his record speaks for itself. We have high expectations for both Chad and Ryan and I know they are going to do their best to meet them."

This gives Kawasaki the most potentially dominant team in 2010 as far as we’ve seen thus far. The question will be how well he and Villopoto gel and whether or not that affects either of them on the racetrack. Now that RV has a full year on the big bikes under his belt, we were looking forward to watching him dice it up with Reed and maybe bang it out a little. Time will tell how these two become BFF, mortal enemies or if it even matters at all.

I am a long time commited Kawi rider and racer, i have owned most all brands of bikes out there, and in my personal opinion, the Kawi, and the Yami are the best bikes ou there. I have been riding since i was 7 years old, and seen alot of racers in my day, now at the age of 38, i feel its not the bike that makes the rider its the rider. Reed and Vilipoto will be a team to contend with, and on Kawi's to beat.
Thanks for your time, I look forward to getting home from my deployment in Iraq, so i can ride my 08 and 09 KXF's there is no room for people who like to whine and talk alot of BS.

anybody can hang it out and ride over their head if i wouldnt have crashed i would have one PLEASE understand that staying on the bike is part of the racing yes james stewart is blazing fast and can hang it out there without fear probably better than anyone but hey staying healthy and staying on your trusted ride is all part of the racing if you fall and kill yourself oh well you fell period none of this woulda coulda shoulda crap you either finish or you dont and to say im faster but i usually fall that sucks ass in itself so there ya go there are many great riders who could turn the fastest lap until they crash hoping they dont rash come on a fast consistant pace staying upright and finishing is all that matters so nonsense about whos what and why its still an excuse oh i would have won if i wouldnt have crashed and the people that buy into like a bunch of sheep bah bah bah bah

Chad did well with Suzuki as a team. This year should be filled with some good competitors to challange Reed and his new bolt loosing Kawasaki. Go Dungey
Baileys -2010 season  December 18, 2009 06:24 PM
Chad is a good rider, no doubt; however, he is NO champ. If he were a champ he would have won. He can't beat Stewart and he knows it. Now the question is: Will Team Kawasaki put up with Reed's dirty tactics when it comes to down to beating the #1 plate or will they put a stop to it before it begins? Now admittedly he won a supercross championship during a season that Stewart started, BUT Stewart was injured and couldn't finish the season.
There are lots of great riders this year, Villipoto, Dungey, Short, Tedesco, Grant, etc., and as last year proved it isn't over until the checkered flag in Vegas falls.

mxer2 -lots of talent all over the place  November 6, 2009 08:12 AM
just think there are a few sleepers in both classes- we'll see whose skillz rise to the surface- its just nice seeing the talent pool expand, makes for great racing- anyone see John Dowd take 2nd at southwick this year? 42yrs old-
Mxster -Tim B  November 4, 2009 12:14 PM
Wow Tim you must really know alot about motocross and their stocks! So you obviously know that no matter what bike Reed is on he is going to be a champion becuase of his Skills. And FYI these manufacturers such as Kawasaki do not rely on motocross and supercross to make their stocks better, its the general public and the other products they make. And a True motocross fan doesnt hate any of the riders, so the only people who can be haters is the Pros themselves. And I highly doubt your a Pro rider.

Also... Whats with the FIFA guy talkin about soccer here???
Jpilot22 -Excited  November 3, 2009 02:40 PM
I am so excited to see Reed and RV together, hopefully now Bubba will have two reasons to crap himself seeing to green monsters up his arse, and i agree they do like a dominant force with speed experience and consistency to bring the monster team more titles.
Tim B -HAHAHAHAHAHA YES!!!!!!!!!!!  November 2, 2009 02:06 PM
I hate Reed and I hate Kawasaki so I'm LOVING this! Haha! This has seriously made my day! I thought Kawasaki liked to win not be the runner up? They lost Stewart and got Reed so I see their stocks dropping like a rock! Haha! Now hopefully Villopoto, who I really like, gets smart and moves to Honda or Suzuki.
Zeta -Chad Reed  November 2, 2009 11:52 AM
Ryan's the one to watch this year & next, if he can stay healthy. Chad will be a great addition. I feel sorry for Suzuki, though. They need Ricky again. Heck, the whole sport needs Ricky again. It's no fun watching an arrogant Yamaha guy ride around the track by himself.
