That right wrist is causing James problems.
San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart, who's currently running fifth in the championship points, will sit out tonight’s Supercross race in San Francisco. Stewart got banged up in Phoenix two weeks ago and has been dealing with the side effects ever since. After soldering through Anaheim 2, Stewart went back to the doctors for a second look on Thursday, January 28, and they discovered that he has a broken scaphoid in his right wrist. Surgery was performed successfully by Dr. Arthur Ting of Fremont, California.
“James is a true champion. The fact that he rode as competitively as he did making the podium at Anaheim 2 with a broken wrist (unknowingly) is testimony to that. He's anxious to heal and get back on the race track as soon as possible,” said Team Manager, Larry Brooks.
It is uncertain when Stewart will return to action. He and the team are taking it day-by-day with constant evaluation. With Chad Reed out due to a broken left hand, the title chase is wide open now that the biggest stars are on the sidelines.
