Kevin Windham looks rejuvenated now that Stewart and Reed are both out with injuries.
With James Stewart sitting out due to his broken wrist, the 450 class was left wide open. Veteran Geico Powersports Honda rider, Kevin Windham, took advantage by posting the fastest qualifying time in this afternoon’s practice sessions. The Mississippi rider logged a 53.00-second lap aboard his CRF450R. Current points leader, Ryan Dungey was close on his tail with a 53.33, putting his Rockstar Makita Suzuki in second ahead of Ryan Villopoto. The remaining Monster Energy Kawasaki rider (now that Chad Reed is out with a broken hand) was only 1/100th of a second off Dungey.
Last weekend’s runner-up, Josh Hill, was fifth-fastest, sandwiched by Red Bull Honda riders Andrew Short and Davi Millsaps in fourth and sixth, respectively. Grant Langston posted a solid result for the J-Law ampm Yamaha team in 10th.

Josh Hansen (100) led the 250F class in San Francisco qualifying practice.
Josh Hansen was the fastest in the Lites qualifying practice sessions with a 53.75-second lap around the San Fran track. The Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider has proven speedy in practice and heat races, but has yet to put his KX250F at the front of a main event. Hansen’s teammate, Jake Weimer, has been the man dominating the night shows, but he qualified fourth with a 54.39. Wil Hahn and Broc Tickle were faster finishing second and third on the leaderboard with a 54.29 and 54.34, respectively.
