K-Dub was the fastest on the Salt Lake City Supercross track in qualifying practice. Could the veteran make it two in a row
Kevin Windham continues to be the man to beat in practice. Can he get another win in Salt Lake City?

Last week’s winner, Kevin Windham, bested the field during qualifying practice in Salt Lake City. The GEICO rider’s 48.601-second lap was over a half second faster than the nest quickest rider, Andrew Short. Yamaha’s Josh Hill turned his best time on Lap 6, placing him on the third rung. As usual JGR’s Justin Brayton was in the top-five, turning a 49.323 for fourth place. 2010 Supercross champ Ryan Dungey rounded out the top-five, one-and-a-half seconds off Windham’s pace.

Davi Millsaps grabbed sixth before going over the bars in the whoops and leaving practice early under his own power. Troy Adams’ 50.459 was good enough for sixth ahead of Park City’s Michael Byrne. Kyle Chisholm was next in the order with a 50.973. The lone Monster Energy Rider, Nick Wey, put his factory KX450F in 10th.

The Dirt Wurx crew had their work cut out for them before practice began. Pulling back the plastic revealed a swamped Rice Eccles field, with standing water that was ankle deep in most spots. This does not bode well for when the rain and snow forecasted for night begins to fall. A massive pile of sand and lime was mixed into the soggy surface, and it looks good right now. We’ll see later tonight how the track will hold up if the weatherman is correct. Stay tuned for results for Salt Lake City later this evening on MotoUSA.
