Supercross

Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey bested the Supercross class in the qualifying practice, turning a 1:02.049-second lap. Once again GEICO’s Kevin Windham was near the top of the order with a 1:03.684. Chad Reed is back on the track after a weekend off, and he grabbed the third fastest lap just ahead of Justin Brayton’s 1:04.422. Davi Millsaps rode his Red Bull Honda around the dusty Vegas track in 1:04.600 to nab the fifth rung on the ladder.

Millsaps’ teammate, Andrew Short, was sixth fastest with a 1:04.708. Kyle Cunningham turned a 1:05.012 as he fills in for an injured Ivan Tedesco, which was good enough for seventh. Tommy Hahn was eighth just ahead of Kyle Chisholm and Josh Hill in that order.

East/West Lites

In the East vs. West Shootout practice Pro Circuit’s Christophe Pourcel was the quickest around the Vegas track. Turning a 104.737 put him on top of the board, which was the only lap in the 1:04 range. Honda’s Trey Canard blasted into second on the very last lap of practice, bumping Jake Weimer into third position. MotoConcept’s Broc Tickle was fourth quickest with a 1:05.966. The Number-100 of Josh Hansen rounded out the top five.

The track is the usual dusty affair that we’ve come to expect in Vegas. A constant breeze is wicking the moisture out of the racing surface quickly.
