After undergoing heavy market research with customers in Europe the design brief was to build a compact bike with a torquey engine and great handling.
Forks are taken from the 2008 FireBlade but feature different internals. Brakes are taken from the 2008 Blade too but use smaller 310mm discs, different master cylinder and brake lines.
Engine is taken from the 2007 FireBlade but its been retuned for maximum torque and midrange. The bike uses a different ECU, fuel injection system, cylinder head, compression ratio, smaller inlet and exhaust valves.
With mounds of torque, the new Honda naked has no trouble going in unicycle mode.
2008 Honda CB1000R.
The bike's style and design was created in Europe with a strong influence being “ready to attack” The concept was inspired by a vision to create a bike for Europe by the managers of Honda Europe.
Wheels are lightweight four-spoke alloys specially designed for the CB1000R.
When the MPH kicks up the Honda CB1000R really shines handling well in the corners.
The new CB1000R is 40 lbs heavier than the lightweight 2008 CBR1000RR superbike racebike.
Although sourcing its motor from its CBR cousin, the CB1000R utilizes a single-sided swingarm and purpose-build four-spoke rear wheel.
Many a CB1000R will be in just such a position on European roads in the future.
2008 Honda CB1000R.
The styling was created completely in Europe and fitted the brief of a bike designed to be ridden fast on winding roads but a bike that also gave the owner a chance to show off.
Sit at 80 mph and the Honda is surprisingly comfortable.
