Andrew Pitt will be back in World Superbike on a BMW next year.
Two-time World Supersport Champion Andrew Pitt will be back in action on a Superbike once again, this time on a privateer
BMW S1000RR in World Superbike. Pitt, who has one WSBK race win to his name, will team up with Roland Resch on the Reitwagen Motorsports team, according to a report from the team on
WSBK’s official website.
The release also includes a blub about some former members of the Stiggy Motorsports team being involved, including team owner Johan “Stiggy” Stigefelt and ex-racer Peter Goddard, who is now a suspension specialist.
The 33-year-old Australian Pitt won the WSS crown in 2001 on a Kawasaki and again in 2008 for Ten Kate Honda, though he struggled to defend his title this past season, only ending up on the podium twice all year. As for his WSBK career, he finished fifth in the series in 2006 aboard a Yamaha, with his lone win coming that season. Pitt also rode in MotoGP, including a full season in 2003.
While the starting grid in the AMA is going down, once again World Superbike looks to be getting even stronger.
