Mat Mladin keeps Twittering into the headlines. This time the seven-time AMA Superbike champ has quashed rumors of his return to
World Superbike via Tweet. The news came on
Mladin’s Twitter feed, posting on December 22:

Mat Mladin has been providing some great off-season speculation thanks to the phenomenon that is Twitter.
“No return for MM to racing in World SBK. Please take me back DMG (obi wan), you are my only hope ;-)”
Mladin fueled speculation of a possible return to racing on the same Twitter feed when he said in a December 9th post:
“a couple of world superbike offers have come my way in the past month. 1 of them very good in regards to machinery. decisions decisions ;-)”
After that the rumors started boiling (by the way, note Mladin’s masterful twitter handiwork of 139 characters.) One source placed Mladin on a
BMW for 2010. And it would seem the Australian has sold enough GSX-Rs and Yoshimura parts to a secure a favorable ride with
Suzuki.
For now it looks like Mat will be content to stay busy with his business interests in Australia, as well as tweet fun at the roadracing missteps of the DMG-run AMA Pro Road Racing. Mladin’s intermittent digs on the DMG during the off-season have produced some real whoppers, including dubbing DMG boss Roger Edmondson as “Boss Hog”. Mladin also derided the AMA’s planned 2010 schedule, with the notable absences of Miller Motorsports and Laguna Seca.
Of course, nothing’s to say Mladin won’t surprise us with some more 140-character-or-less career updates. Early in November he hinted at a possible three-race series, hitting the three tracks notably absent from the AMA schedule (Laguna, Miller and Indianapolis).
