Up-and-coming Canadian Superbike rider Brett McCormick will race the full 2010 American Superbike Series.
Canadian prodigy Brett McCormick is set to race the
American Superbike Series this coming season as a privateer. He will ride for a self-funded effort with help from Picotte Racing, according to reliable sources.
With the American series lacking the factory involvement it has had in the past, and the Blackfoot
Suzuki team he successfully rode for last year pulling out of the Canadian Series, this looks to be a perfect timing for the young Northerner to show his talent on United States soil.
While you may not have heard of him yet, don’t except that to last for long. The tall and talented racer has a kind of Ben Spies-like riding style and has been on fire up in Canada as of late, setting multiple lap records and only missing the out on the '09 Superbike title to Jordan Szoke by a hair, due in part to a couple mechanical issues.

"It's tough after a stellar year to not have a ride this year, but I guess at this point in my career it's time to prove myself on a bigger stage." - McCormick
"It's tough after a stellar year to not have a ride this year, but I guess at this point in my career it's time to prove myself on a bigger stage, and the States is obviously the place to do that. I know Pascal and the guys are a world class team," McCormick said on
CMG online.
Plan is for the team to ride a Suzuki GSX-R1000 full-time in American Superbike, though they will also prep a Daytona SportBike-spec GSX-R600 for an attack at the Daytona 200 during the opening round in March.
We had a chance to meet the likeable Canadian at the final round of the World Superbike Series in Portugal last year, and were very impressed with the level headedness and ambitious drive of the up-and-coming talent. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Picotte Racing team and Brett McCormick at all of the AMA rounds this year, as we don't doubt his riding will turn some heads.
