Cameron Beaubier
Cameron Beaubier (16) took the victory in Race 2 despite a red flag that created another two-part race.
Once again the AMA SuperSport race was marred by a red flag, making it another two-part affair. And in both parts it was Rockwall Yamaha’s Cameron Beaubier showing dominating speed, redeeming himself after losing out to Elena Myers in Saturday’s history-making SuperSport final.
The opening lap of the first start saw Huntley Nash, Myers, Beaubier and Joey Pascarella leading the field. Myers took the point position from Nash on the front straight starting on lap 2, with Beaubier then coming through the field to take the lead into Turn 2 on the fifth lap.

Beaubier instantly put a gap on Myers, pulling out by nearly a second per lap. RMR’s Myers was also slowly being caught by Pascarella on the Ducati, who had passed Nash for third position on the eighth lap. But Pascarella then once again brought out the red flag with a strange crash on the front straight the following lap. Luckily he was up right away and uninjured, opting to restart the race from the back of the grid.

Off the restart it was Beaubier leading the way from Nash, Myers, Scott Gilbert and Austin DeHaven. And again Beaubier put in a dominating performance, leaving the rest of the field in his wake to the tune of nearly half-a-second per lap.

Saturday’s winner Myers was able to keep in Nash’s second-place tow for the first couple of laps, though slowly lost touch as the race wore on. The top three also dispatched Gilbert in fourth, as the field spread out in the closing laps. Gilbert would fall out of fourth on the final lap.

At the line it was Beaubier taking the win by 5.255 seconds over Nash in second spot. Myers was in a solid third the entire race until something went wrong on the final lap, dropping her to fifth at the line. This gave local Top Gun rider Tyler O’Hara the final podium position for the second-straight race, with DeHaven right off his back wheel in fourth.
Joey Pascarella has proven to be almost unbeatable so far in the SuperSport class this year.
Pascarella had a crash on the front straight that resulted in another red flag.

What went wrong on the final lap at Infineon for Myers was that DeHaven pushed her into the dirt.

We were there and I am really impressed with Elena Myers. She looked as good/fast as anyone else most the time. Too bad she accidently hit her kill switch and went from 3rd to 5th place.

I'll say this, all the races were very competitive and most the time the weather was good. Even the pits were pretty full of displays, etc. It wasn't as big as it used to be with all the factory rigs, but it was still decent.
