2010 AMA Pro Racing Road America Friday

Team Graves Yamaha rider Josh Hayes took the top time in Friday’s provisional qualifying round at Road America with a best time of 2:14.002 on his last lap. Hayes was able to set the top pace ahead of Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Tommy Hayden by just over three hundredths of a second.
Josh Hayes clearly dominated Round 4 at Infineon Raceway where he took the double win and significantly advaned his points in the Championship Series.
Josh Hayes captured the leading time of 2:14.002 on Friday at Road America.
 
Hayden took the second-fastest time after outpacing Larry Pegram during the 40-minute session. Completing 14 laps aboard his Ducati 1098R, Pegram was off Hayes’ pace by 0.667 seconds. Following Pegram by 0.866 seconds was Hayden’s teammate, Blake Young, who achieved the final spot on the provisional front row.
 
Jordan Suzuki’s Jake Zemke took fifth-fastest and was the final rider to stay within one second of Hayes’ pace.
In sixth-place on the timesheet was Monster Energy Suzuki’s Jake Holden. Coming in just behind Holden with the seventh best time of 2:15.797 was Ben Bostrom aboard his Yamaha YZF-R1.
 
Suzuki rider Chris Ulrich took eighth and was just over two seconds off the leading pace of Hayes. Taylor Knapp and Brett McCormick rounded out the top-10 with ninth and tenth-place times respectively.

Larry Pegram took the last position on the podium for Race 1 at Infineon  earning a third-place finish behind Ben Bostrom.
Larry Pegram (#72) had the third-quickest time of the day behind Josh Hayes and Tommy Hayden.

Daytona Sportbike
Suzuki’s Martin Cardenas was able to lead the charts today at Road America during provisional qualifying for Round 5 of the Daytona Sportbike series. Completing only seven laps, Cardenas took the best lap by 0.054 seconds from Team Graves Yamaha rider Josh Herrin.
 
Dane Westby of Project 1 Atlanta took third for a spot on the provisional front row ahead of Ducati’s Steve Rapp and Suzuki’s Danny Eslick, who was the final rider to have a time posted less than a second from Cardenas’ pace.
 
Cory West rode nearly double the amount of laps Cardenas completed and took the sixth-fastest time on Friday at 2:22.160. Trailing West was Tommy Aquino in seventh aboard his Yamaha, followed by Chris Fillmore, Clinton Seller and P.J. Jacobsen who rounded out the top-10.
 
Daytona Sportbike Road America Friday Qualifying:
Josh Herrin was quickly able to move into second-place during Race 2 and stay there despite the chaos around him.
Team Graves Yamaha rider Josh Herrin clenched the second-best time at Road America and was just 0.054 seconds off the pace set by Cardenas.

Supersport
Rockwall Yamaha’s J.D. Beach, who won the Pro Singles AMA Flat Track event last weekend in Illinois, led the qualifying session on Friday ahead of Huntley Nash on his Yamaha YZF-R6 by just under three tenths of a second.
Following Nash was Tomas Puerta with the third-quickest time that was less than a second from Beach’s pace.
 
Only able to manage the fifth-best Supersport lap of the day was Cameron Beaubier. With a pace of 2:28.434 the Supersport rider completed only four laps and was nearly four seconds off Beach’s pace.
 
After Beaubier, Ducati’s Joey Pascarella qualified sixth and was more than four seconds off the leading pace.
 
After having a successful round at Infineon Raceway, Elena Myers started this weekend off with a time that placed her eighth during provisional qualifying. Suzuki’s James Rispoli and Kawasaki’s Nicholas Hansen finished the top-10 with ninth and tenth respectively.
