J.D. Beach celebrates his win in Wisconsin after Nash and Beaubier crash out on the final lap.
J.D. Beach (73) scored the Supersport victory at Road America today after Huntley Nash and Cameron Beaubier both crashed in the final lap.
In what was an action-packed final lap at Road America, J.D. Beach pulled out the win during the first Supersport race in Wisconsin. After leading for much of the 10-lap contest, Huntley Nash suffered a crash on the final lap as did second-place Cameron Beaubier to give Beach the victory.

At the start it was Beaubier off the line followed by Tomas Puerta, Beach and Nash. It didn’t take long for Nash to make his move, however. By the end of the first lap he had rocketed into first and was leading Beaubier by 0.106-seconds.

Suzuki’s Elena Myers was running sixth by the close of Lap 2 when she crashed out. Shortly afterwards it was Joey Pascarella who suffered the same fate by crashing during Lap 3, pushing him to the back of the pack in 15th.

Midway through the race Puerta managed to take second-place from Beaubier, who dropped back to third and trailed the young Yamaha rider by 0.597-seconds.

During Lap 7 Beach and Beaubier engaged in a brief battle for third with Beuabier gaining the advantage and the number three spot. Shortly afterward Beaubier muscled his way to second ahead of Beach.

It was Nash, Beaubier and Beach heading into the home stretch. Events quickly changed, however, with Nash crashing out on the final lap followed shortly by Beaubier who also washed out, handing the victory to Beach.

Puerta, who was hanging around in fourth before the two leaders crashed, grabbed a second-place podium finish with Suzuki’s James Rispoli earning the final spot on the rostrum.

Rounding out the top-five were Miles Thornton and David Gaviria, who took fourth and fifth-place respectively.
