2010 AMA Pro Racing Laguna Seca Qualifying

Ben Bostrom had a much better result in SuperBike Race 2. The Yamaha racer scored third place.
Pat Clark Motorsports rider Ben Bostrom took the leading time in Saturday's second Superbike qualifying session.

In the final qualifying session of the American SuperBike class, Pat Clark Motorsports Yamaha rider Ben Bostrom took the best time at the Laguna Seca circuit ahead of Team Graves Yamaha's Josh Hayes. Bostrom outpaced the #4 bike by more than two-tenths of a second, earning his best time of 1:24.367 on his 19th lap out. M4 Monster Energy Suzuki’s Jake Holden completed the top-three with a top time of 1:24.613 and was just 46-hundredths of a second behind Holden. Ducati’s Larry Pegram and Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Tommy Hayden came in fourth and fifth respectively, and were more than three-tenths of a second adrift of the leader’s pace.

MotorcycleUSA.com’s Steve Atlas came in 20th on the timesheets, taking his best time of 1:29.246 on his 12th lap out.

Josh Hayes took the first win on Saturday at Infineon Raceway during Round 4 of the 2010 AMA Pro Racing series.

With under five minutes to go in the Daytona SportBike Qualifying 2 session, Team Graves Yamaha rider Tommy Aquino put down a lightning-fast pace to outdo his teammate, Josh Herrin, at the Laguna Seca circuit. With a time of 1:27.039 achieved on his seventh lap out, Aquino bested Herrin by a full 0.231 seconds to earn the top time in Saturday’s second qualifying run.

Despite having the lead for the majority of the session, Herrin settled for second with his time of 1:27.270. In third was M4 Monster Energy Suzuki’s Martin Cardenas with a lap that was 0.443 seconds adrift of Aquino’s pace. The Suzuki rider was followed by Bobby Fong on his DNA Energy Drink Ducati in fourth, and Project 1 Atlanta Yamaha’s Clinton Seller rounded out the top-five times in fifth-place.
 
Geico Powersports Suzuki rider Danny Eslick could only manage the sixth-fastest time around the Laguna Seca circuit, with Versah Suzuki rider Cory West 0.220 seconds behind in seventh. Ducati rider Steve Rapp of Team Latus Motors took eighth on the timesheets with a best lap of 1:28.461. Michael Beck of DNA Energy Drink Ducati put up his best effort on his 11th lap out, securing ninth. Versah Suzuki’s Chris Fillmore rounded out the top-10 times and was more than two seconds adrift of the leader’s pace.

Josh Herrin was quickly able to move into second-place during Race 2 and stay there despite the chaos around him.

SuperSport

Yamaha’s Tomas Puerta got his SuperSport race off to a good start by taking the top time in Saturday’s qualifying session. Puerta clearly dominated the session by repeatedly setting the lowest times, outpacing Top Gun’s Tyler O’Hara by 0.055 seconds. Yamaha’s Austin Dehaven took third on the timesheets with a 1:29.978 that was clocked in one of the last laps of the session. The top-three riders were the only racers to lap under the 1'30 mark.

Rockwall Performance’s Cameron Beaubier was not capable of breaking into the top-three and took fourth with a time that was less than a second off the leader’s pace. Rounding out the top-five times was Yamaha’s Huntley Nash in fifth with a best lap of 1:30.283.
 
DNA Energy Drink Yamaha rider Joey Pascarella followed in sixth, with Suzuki’s Elena Myers trailing him in seventh with a best lap of 1:30.656 . Finishing out the top-10 were Scott Gilbert, Matthew Sadowski and David Gaviria.

Huntley Nash  #75  and Tomas Puerta  #12  in the lead of Elena Myers  #21  and James Rispoli  #17 .
