Round 9 of the 2010 American SuperBike series officially kicked off on Friday with Rockstar Makita
Suzuki’s Tommy Hayden securing provisional pole ahead of Pat Clark Motorsports’ Ben Bostrom and M4 Monster Energy Suzuki’s John Hopkins. Hayden crushed the existing track record at the New Jersey circuit, taking a lap in just 1’20.623 to beat out last year’s time by nearly a full second. Bostrom’s time of 1’20.982 was achieved in the final 10 minutes of the qualifying session, but it was ultimately 0.358 seconds off the pace of Hayden, who blasted to the top of the charts with five minutes remaining. Hopkins finished the session in third, followed by Team Graves
Yamaha’s Josh Hayes aboard his Yamaha YZF-R1. Taking the fifth-best time was National Guard Jordan Suzuki’s Jake Zemke, who posted a lap of 1’21.492, and ran more than eighth-tenths of a second off Hayden’s pace.

Daytona SportBike
In the Daytona SportBike series M4 Monster Energy Suzuki’s Martin Cardenas took the leading time in Friday’s first qualifying session at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The Columbian edged ahead of Geico Powersports Suzuki’s Danny Eslick by 0.079 seconds to take first by the halfway mark. For the remainder of the session no other rider was capable of posing a significant threat to the #36 bike, and Cardenas’ fastest lap of 1’23.683 was good enough to take last year’s pole in addition to a new circuit best. Rounding out the provisional front row were Eslick and Team Graves Yamaha’s Tommy Aquino, who posted a time that was more than half a second off Cardenas’ time. Vesrah Suzuki’s Cory West secured fourth on the timesheets with a time of 1’24.464 aboard his Suzuki GSX-R600. Meanwhile, Aquino’s Yamaha teammate, Josh Herrin, experienced a difficult start in New Jersey after taking fifth in the timesheets during the 50-minute session. The runner-up in the Daytona SportBike Championship was close to a second off the pace of Cardenas, and trailed West by 0.146 seconds.

AMA SuperSport
In the AMA SuperSport series DNA Energy Drink’s Joey Pascarella had the fastest lap around the 2.25-mile New Jersey course. The Yamaha rider’s lap of 1’25.547 was good enough to beat out Huntley Nash, whose time of 1:26.265 was more than seven-hundredths of a second adrift. Eric Stump was 0.390 seconds behind Nash and rounded out the top-three times in third. National Guard Suzuki’s Corey Alexander earned fourth during the session which saw him nearly 1.2 seconds behind the leading time. Miles Thornton rounded out the top-five times after his lap of 1:26.794 came just 0.030 seconds shy of Alexander’s.
