After Huntley Nash crashed out on Lap 10 James Rispoli led a strong race and took the checkers ahead of Tomas Puerta.
In the final day of SuperSport action at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Suzuki rider James Rispoli took top honors in a wild and chaotic race. The contest bagan with Huntley Nash getting the early lead ahead of Tomas Puerta and DNA Energy Drink’s Joey Pascarella. Lucas Oil Suzuki’s Elena Myers and Aaron Colton both suffered falls early in the round, with Myers crashing out of seventh-place in the opening lap. Just two laps in Puerta had taken over the lead, but it was short-lived as Pascarella threw himself into the mix.
As the top-three battled amongst each other they began pulling away from the pack, and they remained separated by less than half a second. Pascarella slowly began to edge out ahead of Puerta and Nash while Rispoli moved into the number-two spot just ahead of Puerta. After Nash was able to take back second from Rispoli, Pascarella suffered a shocking crash while in the lead – handing first over to the Yamaha rider. By Lap 10 Rispoli was starting to make progress on closing the gap between himself and Nash. Similar to Pascarella, Nash suffered a crash while out front which gave the lead to Rispoli with less than half the contest remaining.
In the final laps Rispoli rode a strong race ahead of Puerta and Yamaha rider Austin Dehaven. Near the end Puerta managed to close in on the leader, and even made a brief pass for the lead, but it was quickly given back to Rispoli, who went on to capture the victory in Race 2. Puerta and Dehaven took a podium finish in second and third respectively, while Miles Thornton and National Guard Suzuki’s Corey Alexander rounded out the top-five.
