Valentino Rossi Completes Brno Testing

Rossi sourced a Sterilgarda Yamaha Superbike for testing at Misano with The Doctor eyeing an early return to Grand Prix racing.
Valentino Rossi completed another private day of testing at the Brno racing circuit Monday in preparation for his MotoGP return.
After severely breaking his leg five weeks ago at Mugello, reigning MotoGP World Champ, Valentino Rossi is back in the saddle of a motorcycle having successfully completed a one-day test at the Brno racing circuit in the Czech Republic. This is the second time Rossi has ridden at a private test (the first being last week at Misano) in order to gauge his physical condition as he prepares to return to the MotoGP competition.

"Today was good, I felt better than in Misano but I still feel quite tired after a few laps and a race will be a much bigger question,” said Rossi after the test. “We haven't made the final decision yet, I need to have some more x-rays on Wednesday and then my doctors and I will consider whether I can ride at Sachsenring.”

During the test Rossi piloted an Yamaha YZF-R1 provided by the Yamaha World Superbike Team. He put in a total of 46 laps and recorded a best time of 1’59.135. For perspective his best time was just over a second slower than Cal Cruthlow’s Superpole flyer of 1'58.018.

“Once I'd understood my physical condition today, I had great fun riding the R1 and even did some work on the settings!,” said Rossi. “I want to say a big thank you to the WSB Team for staying on here another day and making this test possible for me."

Rossi still hasn’t confirmed if he’ll be racing this weekend in Germany and even if he does he will still need approval from the FIM Chief Medical Officer. In the meantime, substitute Japanese rider Wataru Yoshikawa will be on standby if Rossi chooses not to compete.
