Andrew McFarlane Dies at Australian Motocross

Andrew McFarlane died Sunday, May 2nd of injuries suffered in a motocross accident in Melbourne, Australia. Andrew was practicing during Round 3 of the Australian Motocross Championship where he was fifth overall aboard his JDR Motorsport KTM 450. Reports indicate that Andrew suffered severe head injuries and died on-scene at the State Motorcycle Sports Complex.

Over 27 years of racing, the Brisbane native managed to finish runner-up in the World Motocross Championship MX2 division before heading to America. His history in the States includes racing stints with Yamaha of Troy, Rockstar Suzuki and Motosport Kawasaki. He also represented his country seven times in the Motocross des Nations.

Outside of his racing life, the 32-year-old was a father and husband. He is survived by wife Natalie and a daughter. The funeral will be held at Cleveland Baptist Church, 240 Bloomfield Street, Cleveland, Brisbane, Australia on Monday, May 17th at 11 a.m.

big tragic.thats the proof about safety .apparel for racing neck support helmets all that staff has less protection for racer.

Truly tragic. At least he went out doing what he loved...sad to leave a family behind.
