Kevin Windham Replaces Davi Millsaps at Honda

Kevin Windham was all smiles on the podium at A1
Kevin Windham (above) will temporarily replace the injured Davi millsaps (below) in the 450 class.
Davi Millsaps had a strong first moto at Hangtown where he finished on the podium in third.
Davi Millsaps suffered an injury at Budds Creek and his return to racing the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships is still undetermined. Rather than let his Red Bull Honda CRF450R sit collecting dust, Kevin Windham has been signed on to act as a temporary replacement rider in the 450 class.

"I’m really excited about this opportunity to fill in for Davi until he’s healthy and ready to race again," said Windham. "As I said earlier this year, I had no intentions of racing the full motocross season, but it will be great to get back on the bike and fill in for a few races. I want to thank my GEICO Powersports Honda team for supporting me in this effort, and of course Honda Red Bull Racing for giving me this opportunity to team with Andrew Short and Ashley Fiolek. This should be a lot of fun."

Windham is coming off one of the best Supercross seasons of his career, finishing second overall behind rookie sensation, Ryan Dungey. Toward the end of the season, D-dub came on strong with two wins at Seattle and Salt Lake City and at the end of the season he stood on the podium at half the races. The 32-year-old veteran has been a Supercross-only rider for years, but the fan favorite always makes some appearances outdoors with his GEICO Powersports Honda team. The factory-supported squad has made the gracious allowance for him to switch to the Red Bull Honda ride starting at Millville for Round 7. His length of stay depends on how quickly Millsaps can recover from his injury.

The last time factory Honda used a GEICO replacement rider it was Trey Canard and he immediately took to the Red Bull machine and scored podium after podium. Watch to see if Windham can have the same success with his first appearance on July 17.

It is K-dub right. I can’t wait the last time I saw Windham race the outdoors he gave RC a run for his money. I've wondered why he has been sitting out the outdoors. After all that is the real dirt racing. I can't imagine he will be in outdoor shape though on such short notice. Anyway I will be rooting for him since I don’t really care for the other riders.
