Basic Rules

Here’s the basic rundown of the Fantasy Racing rules: Each race players select 1 A-Rider, 2 B-Riders and 1 Team. For those oblivious to how Fantasy games work, riders earn the player points based off their performance in the actual race. In the MotoGP and World Superbike games, the point system reflects the current FIM points structure, with 25 points for a win on down to 1 point for 15th. To keep things interesting, a five-point bonus will be awarded to the rider posting the fastest lap of the race.

MotoGP and World Superbike Points
1st = 25 points 9th = 7 points
2nd = 20 points 10th = 6 points
3rd = 16 points 11th = 5 points
4th = 13 points 12th = 4 point
5th = 11 points 13th = 3 points
6th = 10 points 14th = 2 points
7th = 9 points 15th = 1 point
8th = 8 points Fastest Lap Bonus = 5 points

Rider Groups

Riders are broken down into two categories: A-Riders and B-Riders. The A-Riders are the heavy hitters in the series, based either off their points total from last year or our editorial staff’s expectation of their performance for the upcoming season. B-Riders include all the remaining riders in the paddock.

Players can only chose individual riders a limited amount of times for the season, the limit set up in the series' rules (5 in MotoGP and 6 in World Superbike). Getting a good result from the A-Rider will be critical in fantasy racing success, but finding consistent performers from the B-Rider crew will seperate the fantasy studs from the geldings. Players will want to stay up to date reading Motorcycle USA racing coverage to see who's hot, who's cold and who's injured.

Team Selections

The team points come via the combined performance of the team's two riders. For example, if Valentino Rossi wins the race (25 points) and Jorge Lorenzo takes second (20) – the Fiat Yamaha Team nets 45 points. Bonus points from the fastest lap are included in the Team tally as well.

Like riders, teams can only be selected a limited amount of times depending on the series rules. (3 in MotoGP and 4 in World Superbike). That means players will have to pick the satellite squads at least a couple times. And remember that team riders can change throughout the year.

Selection Deadlines

Players will have up to two hours pre-race to make their fantasy selections. Once the deadline passes, the picks are set and the die is cast. May the better pretend racing team win!
