Andrew Short
Andrew Short will trade Honda red for KTM orange and black in 2011.
Andrew Short will campaign for the Orange and Black in 2011, with the long-time Honda rider signing with KTM for the upcoming Supercross and Motocross seasons. Short will campaign alongside teammate Mike Alessi aboard the KTM 350 SX-F. Team Manager Roger DeCoster will oversee the factory KTM effort.

DeCoster, who is also new to KTM this season after leaving his long-term association with the factory Suzuki team, worked with Short recently at the Motocross of Nations in Thunder Valley Colorado. Alongside MX champ Ryan Dungey and Trey Canard, Short piloted the U.S. to its sixth consecutive MXoN victory.

"I have known Andrew for many years and of course we had closer contact this year when preparing and racing for the MXoN,” said DeCoster in the official KTM PR announcement. “I am looking forward to working with him and the other KTM riders as we begin testing and preparing for the coming season. We now have a strong team and one with real potential."

Andrew Short grabbed a huge holeshot and led the entire qualifying round in MX3.

Short has been a remarkably consistent performer in his four years in the premier class. In the outdoor Nationals Shorty has not finished less than third in the overall points, having placed third overall in 2010. In Supercross, Short has twice finished third in the overall points (2008, 2009). A leg injury early in the 2010 SX campaign limited Short’s results to 12th overall.

In addition to Short and Alessi, KTM will also support two of its World Motocross stars in stateside series. MX2 champ Marvin Musquin will compete in the U.S. both Supercross and the outdoor Nationals. A second rider, German competitor Ken Roczen, will campaign in the Supercross series only, returning to Europe and the World MX series. Roczen, who scored a podium at MXoN in the MX2 race, moves from Suzuki to KTM for 2011.

I was hoping KTM would sign some more talent , Mike Alessi is one tuff young man and I believe he has what it takes to be a champion ! We love Short too even though he was on red ... having him on Orange and Black will make this team even better .. I hope they sign Chad Reed as well ....Wow i am so exited for this coming year .... With Roger D. this will be a team bound for greatness ....good luck this year to KTM ...

I think KTM's gonna do pretty good next year. I think that with Short and Alessi they are going to do good in Supercross and then they r gunna battle it out in Outdoor Championship. Alessi's always been good Outdoors and Short will battle with him as well

This is the great news for KTM. I think Andrew will pull Mike along with him and get them both up front where they belong! Looking forward to the KR debut as well.

Still, I think Roczen will be KTM's best hope for a rider to run with the top guys. Mostly because he is still an unanswered question at this point (the others are answered questions). He has shown big talent especially for such a young age.
