Jakw Weimer broke his arm while training and his return for the 2011 season has yet to be determined.
With just a few days remaining from the start of the 2011 AMA Supercross
series, one team that has already encountered misfortune is the Monster Energy Kawasaki
team of Ryan Villopoto
and Jake Weimer
. Less than two weeks from the opening round at Anaheim Weimer took a hard spill during testing, resulting in a broken arm. Weimer was winner of the 2010 West Coast Lites Championship and had been hard at work preparing for his move up in the 450 class. Unfortunately the 23-year-old will be forced trackside as his only teammate, Ryan Villopoto, contends the first round of the series alone.
The Monster Energy Kawasaki team will hardly be at a disadvantage, however. Villopoto was experiencing the best season of his young career in 2010 prior to breaking his leg, and is currently being touted as one of the top candidates for the title in the coming season.
Ryan Villopoto will have to carry the Monster Energy Kawasaki Team solo as he chases the crown in the premier class.
I’ve been off the bike for a long time,” said Villopoto. “The way things ended last season was unfortunate. I really felt I was riding the best I ever had on the 450. I’ve made some changes to improve my program and now it’s time to just prepare for this season and hopefully take care of some unfinished business.”
Despite his optimism for 2011, injuries have been a troubling concern for Villopoto in his quest for the crown. In 2009 the 22-year-old had his debut season the premier class interrupted when a knee injury forced him out. If he can stay healthy RV will be a safe bet in our Fantasy Supercross

. Although crippled after Weimer’s injury, Monster Energy Kawasaki remains on solid footing and will definitely be a team to watch come Anaheim.
