EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida will host the AMA Supercross Championship for its third time.
The 2011 Monster Energy
AMA Supercross Championship has officially arrived in Jacksonville under clear skies and warm conditions. The evening before the race MCUSA had the chance to quickly chat with some of the top riders about their season so far and their hopes for the upcoming race.
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto is currently on a roll with three wins, pushing his lead in the championship. With his determination only getting stronger as the season progresses, RV plans to change little about his successful program while driving a stake into the heart of the runner-up in the championship, James Stewart.
“As of right now we still have quite a few races left," said Villopoto. "Once it gets a little closer to the end we’ll see if we need to change something in our program and put a little more strategy into finishing up the season.”
Monster Energy PC Kawasaki’s
Dean Wilson was also on hand to give a glimpse on his struggles. The Scotsman earned finishes outside the top-five in the past two rounds, and spoke about how he’s attempted to overcome the issue prior to the Jacksonville race.

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Dean Wilson spoke with MCUSA about troubles in the last few rounds.
“I just need to get my starts figured out because my starts have been terrible the last few rounds," explained Wilson. "When they were good I was either second or first. I just need to get the holeshot and everything else will be fine from there.”
Lastly, MCUSA also caught up with the injured
Jake Weimer, who experienced a major setback to his premier class debut aboard the KX450F when he broke his arm during pre-season training. The 23-year-old appeared in good spirits and is looking to return at the St. Louis Supercross later next month.
“It’s not the way I wanted to start things but it comes with the territory," stated Weimer. "I’m back on the bike now and getting things rolling. Everything is going well so far, I just need to take my time and ease my way back into it.”
