Day 2 of the Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s marked the first day of racing in the 31st annual contest at the ranch. Conditions were ideal and riders took to the track hungry for a moto win in the legendary amateur competition.

Early on the young guns in the 85 (9-11) Modified Class served up a memorable moto, with Jordan Bailey taking the win after battling back from 11th place. Garrett Marchbanks and Carter Halpain had been setting the pace out front, but once they began to encounter lapped traffic later in the race, Bailey was able to finish his charge for the front.

In the 250 A Class, Geico Honda rider Zach Bell proved he is ready to step up to contest the pro division after building a huge lead and taking the win over Dillan Epstein and Joey Savatgy, who took second and third, respectively. Bell is expected to debut in the pros during the upcoming Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship round at Southwick later in the month.

The 450 B Stock riders Luke Clout and Matt Biceglia battled for the lead for most of their moto, trading positions a number of times before Biceglia finally made a pass for the front stick late in the race, earning him the win. Frank Nogueras rounded out the podium.

One of the largest crowds ever seen at Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch gathered to watch motocross legend Ricky Carmichael race in the 25 + class, and they weren’t disappointed. The GOAT was eighth halfway through Lap 1, but soon had pushed up to the front and began to build a significant gap on his competition. Andrew Matusek managed to hold to second over Casey Clark. Clark Stiles took fourth and Mike Sleeter finished in fifth.

Racing continues at Loretta Lynn’s all week, so stay tuned for updates on all the action.
