Matt Bisceglia took home championship titles in the Open Pro Sport and 250 A classes and was given the Horizon Award at Loretta's in 2013.
The 2013 Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by AMSOIL at Loretta Lynn’s wrapped Saturday with the final motos of the week. In the first ever televised broadcast from Loretta’s, Matt Bisceglia secured the 250 A title while Aaron Plessinger did the same in the 250 B class. Bisceglia also won the sought after Horizon Award, which the AMA gives to the rider with most promise on the verge of turning pro.
"I only lost one moto all week, and even the silver medal I got was close to a win," said Bisceglia. "I just stayed consistent and smart. I'm so happy to have done this well this week."
Bisceglia will leave the amateur ranks behind as he joins with the AMA Pro Motocross ranks for the upcoming round at Unadilla with the GEICO Honda squad.
"In a lot of ways I still feel like I'm dreaming," Bisceglia said. "I can't wait to go into Unadilla. My confidence is high. I was glad to get this win on TV. My mom couldn't make it this week and I'm hoping she was watching."
Jordan Smith made it a perfect sweep in the 250 B Limited class, and Jett Reynolds became one of just a few riders to go undefeated through all six motos he entered, winning titles in the 51 (7-8) anc 65 (7-9) classes. Reynolds also won Youth Rider of the Year.
Timmy Ferry secured the Junior 25+ title and walked away with the Vet Rider of the Year Award.
Jazzmyn Canfield put in an impressive performance in the Girls (9-11) class, winning all three motos, taking all three Motorcycle-Superstore.com
Holeshot awards and taking home the title.
“It feels so good every time you win and to be on a long winning streak,” remarked Canfield. “I race with the older girls next year; I hope I can keep it going."
