James Stewart (top) and Kyle
Regal (above) will sit out until
further notice.
Rumors have been confirmed by a Team San Manuel press release that James Stewart and Kyle Regal will not be on the starting line at Hangtown. Despite testing for the outdoor Nationals since finishing fourth in the 2011 AMA Supercross Championship, Stewart had this to say about his
motocross postponement:
“Everyone witnessed the way I struggled during the Supercross series this year and while I’d like to race this weekend, we just aren’t ready. I hope fans will understand. The decision has been very hard to make, but we won’t race till we’re ready.”
That’s right, not only are they missing the first round, but until they are “ready” the San Manuel Yamaha boys are sidelined indefinitely. Stewart was supposed to race the final four events of the 2010 outdoor season, but he pulled the plug after only one (3-DNF at Unadilla) due to some miscommunications with Team USA’s MXdN committee. As for this time around, it doesn’t look good with the PR stating: “The Team will continue to evaluate the remainder of the 2011 schedule before any decision is made regarding what events they will participate in.”
Missing out on Bubba isn’t the only bummer. Regal scored second place in the second motos at the Freestone and Spring Creek Nationals last season so he knows how to put it down on a MX track. Try hitting them up on
Facebook or
Twitter, do we need a petition or something? Who knows what it will take to get these guys to come out, but win or lose, ready or not, fans want to see two of the sport’s top riders.
