Jimmy DeCotis holeshot with two rider fresh out of the amateur ranks, Kyle Peters and Justin Bogle, in second and third. Bogle quickly moved past on his Geico Powerspots Honda which left Peters to battle with DNA Shred Stix Yamaha teammate Kyle Cunningham. Moto 1 winner, Dean Wilson, followed Cunningham past the rookie and set out after the lead pair of Hondas.

Blake Baggett, sporting the Team USA Motocross des Nations gear and livery, rounded Lap 1 in ninth, just behind his Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammate Broc Tickle. Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin was in sixth.

By Lap 3 Wilson was pushing for the win. He closed the gap to Bogle but waited until Lap 11 to make his move. The Scotsman finally set up the winning pass on Bogle at the 25-minute mark and went on to claim his fourth moto victory at Pala, leaving him undefeated at this track. Despite getting picked off late, Bogle was pumped on his second-place finish and he celebrated his successful final moto of the year with a heelclicker over the final jump.

“In the first moto I was pushing hard for the win,” said Wilson. “In that one I had a terrible start and had to come through the pack. I’m so pumped for my buddy Justin Bogle, he’s doing so good. It’s cool that we were out front. It was just like the old days.”

Dean Wilson put a cap on his championship season by sweeping both motos at Pala.

Baggett could only make it up to third as he battled around the KTM of Musquin. Baggett came up three points shy of Rattray in the season standings but the Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki squad was far and away the most dominant team. Wilson would take the overall with Baggett and Musquin on the podium in second and third, respectively.

“I had some highs in the season and I had some lows. I just haven’t been able to get it done lately,” said a disappointed Baggett.
