James Stewart Pulls Out of Monster Energy Cup

Tuesday, October 11, 2011
James Stewart experienced the most emotional win of his career in St. Louis after going eight rounds without a win.
James Stewart announced he is pulling out of this weekend's Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas.
It’s really unfortunate to have to announce this news, but due to the logistics surrounding our 2012 team building efforts, our rider, James Stewart, will not be able to compete in the upcoming Monster Energy Cup.

This decision was obviously a hard one, but it was made after going over the various factors associated with keeping our program as a top-level team in the AMA Supercross/Motocross racing categories.

“I had a real tough decision to make,” said James. “I want to race as bad as anyone, but in the best interests of my team and the 2012 season, I have to make decisions that not everyone will like or understand. All I can do is stay true and be honest with you all and ask for your patience and understanding. As soon as there is news about my 2012 plans, you’ll know!”

We all would have loved to be out there competing at this event; but the consistent focus of our camp this off-season has been centered on the preparation for the 2012 racing season. And so this choice had to be made. Apologies to all the fans and sponsors, but at the same time, we have to thank you all for your continued enthusiasm and support.

Straight at Bubbaquit & the rest of you professional haters. Once a quiter always one? This is the man who at least started the season with the #1 plate. At least he had it in the first place to loose. Your opinion of him is irrelevant. You obviously follow the sport & probably ride dirtbikes. Are you any good? Probably not not even good enough to be semi pro. You probably dont qualify as ameture & if youre an adult with this sort of disrespect for the champ then you're just that much more pathetic. If you're not a grown man/ if you are a kid what is your talent? For anyone talking about what his career could have been (as if so for it has amounted to nothing & ). Apparently he doesn't need the money. He's gotta pay dues for the stupid crap he did last year. Probably the worst year of his life decisionwise. You probably know people who have done worse. Even if he never raced again, he's won championships in both classes on two different brands. WTF have any of you done?

Once a quitter, always a quitter. Or maybe he's pursuing his law enforcement career.

a talent to be sure but the money and the fame derailed a career that could have been great

DAMN,I was looking forward to watching Stewart get beat. It sounds like he wants a guarantee that he will win before he races.

It's just sad to see someone with James Stewart's talent melt down this way. He's obviously got some serious psychological issue as he finds one excuse after another to avoid competing. The reality TV show deal and the made-for-TV drama and partying probably contributed, tempting him away from training. It's obvious that he's been pushed since he was a little kid to compete and maybe the pressure just got to be too much. I hope that he either returns as a serious competitor, focused on training and winning, or he decides that he's ready to close that chapter of his life and retires from MX/SX racing. I wish him the best, and hope that someone around him convinces him to see a sports psychologist.
