Benny Solis has been on fire all weekend at Infineon Raceway.
Roadracingworld.com’s Benny Solis did the double in the
Motorcycle-Supertore.com Supersport class winning Race 2 at Infineon Raceway on Sunday by a margin of 12.524 seconds over LTD Racing’s Tomas Puerta. Today’s win would be the second of his career.
At the start of the race it was Puerta with the early lead followed by Solis and David Gaviria. A few turns later Gaviria slip past Solis for second.
“I went off the start and thought I was in gear but I was in neutral,” said Solis in reference to his poor start. “By the time I was in Turn 1 I had to be somewhere in 15th place.”
The three riders continued to ride in close formation with only a bike length or two separating them. Amidst battle Gaviria crashed highsiding himself in Turn 11 which forces Solis to slow down in order to avoid hitting him. This brought Corey Alexander up to third position. Solis would eventually work his way past Puerta and begin opening up a small gap.
“We did a couple changes on the bike I had a good start and put my head down,” said Puerta. I was trying to be stable on the times. I made a mistake and Benny passed me. I tried to keep up and stay on his draft but I almost crashed like five times. So I backed off I just wanted to finish in order to fight for the championship.”
While running a solid third-place Alexander crashed by himself in Turn 2. He quickly remounted and rejoined the race. He quickly went to work and caught back up to fifth place and then fourth place with only a lap remaining however would run out of laps and eventually finish a few seconds adrift of Travis Ohge.

Corey Alexander and his Suzuki GSX-R600 get out to the early lead in the Supersport class.
