Rider
Jason DiSalvo has penned a deal with the Latus
Ducati Racing squad to campaign the 2011 AMA Daytona SportBike series. The 26-year-old is coming off a failed attempt in the 2010 World Supersport Championship, where he abandoned his efforts with ParkinGO Triumph during mid-season. Claiming a lack of support on behalf of his team was to blame, DiSalvo has since turned his back on World Supersport in favor of riding the new
Ducati 848 EVO in the
AMA Pro Road Racing series. With an AMA Racing rap sheet stretching back to 2002 DiSalvo, with additional help from Latus crew chief Ronnie Saner, will hope to return in solid form in the upcoming AMA Racing season.
"I want to thank George Latus for giving me this opportunity to help bring success to his team for 2011," said DiSalvo. "I was very impressed by the 848s this past season, and feel that with Ronnie steering the ship we can bring the bike to a competitive level straight away. I've been working harder than ever coming into this year and my goal is to win."
Meanwhile Saner is also is good spirits about DiSalvo’s ability and the new addition to the Latus team. With a total of 22 years of racing experience DiSalvo currently holds the record for consecutive pole positions over a two-year span and has recorded a total of 10 national wins to his name. Expecting to test the 848 for the first time in Daytona in January, the team is feverishly working to have the bike in solid shape prior to its first outing.
"I am very excited to work with Jason DiSalvo for the 2011 season and to be able to run a second year on the Ducati 848,” said Saner. “I am confident that Jason’s experience will be very advantageous to our 2011 campaign.”
