Argentina will host a MotoGP round starting in 2013. Argentinean government officials, including President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, were in attendance at Paris where a three-year deal was inked with Dorna Sports.

The Argentinean Grand Prix will be held at the Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo circuit. The deal is contingent on track renovations meeting MotoGP safety standards.

Grand Prix motorcycle racing last visited South America in 2004, for the Rio GP in Brazil. The last GP for Argentina occurred in 1999 at Buenos Aires – where Kenny Roberts, Jr bested Max Biaggi and Norick Abe for the win.

The new South American round will join the GP schedule along with a third USGP, as MotoGP will also visit the Circuit of the Americas located outside of Austin, Texas.

x2468. I viewed the track from google earth and it appears to be a track that can be configed in many ways. There are 2 long straights but who knows if they will use them. I guess time will tell.

Hopefully the market there will greet them with a worthwhile return on investment. Any info on the track itself? Does it seem like a track that will make for an exciting race with multiple lines? does it have a long straight? good viewing area for a live crowd?
